Vote for Best Roadside Attraction!

Calling all fans of quirky roadside attractions and Disney nostalgia! Our own city boasts a truly unique landmark: a gigantic, 24-foot tall fire hydrant painted with everyone's favorite spotted pattern – Dalmatian!

This behemoth wasn't always a Texan icon. In 1999, to promote the re-release of the animated classic "101 Dalmatians," Walt Disney built the (then) world's largest fire hydrant at Disneyland. But why Beaumont? Out of over 300 museums across the country, the Fire Museum of Texas was chosen for this special honor.

Made of fiberglass and reinforced with steel, this 4,500-pound pup can even put its function to the test, blasting 1,500 gallons of water per minute! While it may have lost the title of "World's Largest" to a challenger in Canada, Beaumont's fire hydrant holds a new title: "World's Largest Working Fire Hydrant." We think that’s even better than the original title.

And now, this beloved landmark needs your vote! USA Today has nominated the Dalmatian fire hydrant as one of the best roadside attractions in the country.
