Beaumont CVB Announces Team Worth of Cypress, TX as Winner of #BmtBaller Photo/Video Contest
The Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce Team Worth 16U Gold of Cypress, Texas as the winner of the #BmtBaller Photo/Video Contest held September 5-14, 2014. On behalf of the team, Rory Gesch submitted numerous photos that matched the contest's 7 different categories, with the winning photo being that of Team Worth on a hotel bell cart.
"Of the room nights tracked per year, the largest percentage of CVB business comes from the Sports market," says Freddie Willard, Beaumont CVB Director of Sales. "With sports, you can see tourism in action with players being in their uniforms out and about in town. We wanted to capture their Beaumont experience to raise awareness of Beaumont as a sports destination."
The purpose of the #BmtBaller Photo/Video Contest was to collect sharable images and video of teams participating in fun activities while they were in Beaumont for softball tournaments at Ford Park Fields during the contest dates. The two tournaments brought nearly 200 teams and over $1.3 million into Beaumont's economy.
"The moments captured were a fun way to show all parts of the #BMTBaller experience," says Rory Gesch, who submitted the winning photo. "Beaumont always does a great job of being a host to visiting ball teams."
With a challenge to share their "love for the game," players, coaches and teams documented their time spent in Beaumont using the hashtag, #BmtBaller. The contest had 7 categories including: Dining Out, Shopping, See the Sights, Play Ball!, Quirky is Cool, Destination Relaxation and Brag-worthy Moments. The Beaumont CVB reviewed contest submissions for creativity and originality and selected a Grand Prize Winner, Team Worth, who will receive a GoPro HERO3+ Black Edition Camera.
"We saw the contest as an opportunity to give a little something back to the teams," says Freddie Willard. "This was the first time we've ever conducted a photo/video contest and we were very hands on with promoting the details. We handed out fans with the contest rules each weekend at Ford Park Fields and the Beaumont Athletic Complex. It was quite successful. The fans were a hit, the teams enjoyed it and we had incredible entries!"
