Texas Parks & Wildlife to Dedicate Texas Paddling Trail at Neches River Rally, September 6, 2014
Carter Smith, Executive Director of Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) will designate the Cook's Lake to Scatterman Paddling Trail as the newest TPWD Paddling Trail in Texas. The dedication will take place September 6th, during the Big Thicket Association's 1st Neches River Rally. The Texas Paddling Trail dedication is open to the public. The Cook's Lake to Scatterman Texas Paddling Trail is supported by Big Thicket National Preserve, Big Thicket Association, Beaumont CVB, and Lower Neches Valley River Authority as Community Partners.
The Neches River Rally is a canoe and kayak rally that will take paddlers on one of the most popular paddling trails in Southeast Texas. The Cooks Lake to Scatterman trail features the famous Madonna Tree with a paddle through a cypress-tupelo forest in the Big Thicket National Preserve. Entry fees for the rally will include a hamburger lunch, official event T-shirt, participant's packet, and local entertainment.

This family friendly event coincides with the Big Thicket Association's 50th Anniversary.
