There’s a new bakery in town! On Calder Avenue, where Ana’s Bakery once stood, is a new pasteleria, Super Antojo Bakery, that is making a name for itself. Dishing out delectable breads, pastries, and desserts, what they are known for, is cakes. With a motto of “you order a cake today, we will get you your cake today,” you know they are doing something right.
When visiting the bakery in the morning, you will be greeted with the delicious smell of freshly baked pastries and bread made by owner and baker, Mario Godoy and his wife. Following the tradition of most Mexican bakeries, each item has its own designated spot in display cases that let customers know what they are seeing. With a tray and tongs situated in the middle of the store, shoppers are encouraged to grab one of each, go to the cabinets filled with goodies, and load up the tray with as much as they want. After grabbing your favorites, bags are available to put them in or the friendly staff can box them up for you.
If you are unfamiliar with Mexican pastries, don’t worry, the Beaumont CVB can vouch for you that they are all amazing but if you want something specific, the staff at Super Antojo will let you know what each baked good is if you ask. Our advice, get one of everything. While we were there, we were able to sample, conchas, bigotes, muffins, pan de mula, bolillo, empanadas, and our favorite, puerquitos – pig-shaped molasses sweet bread.
On top of all the delicious pastries, the desserts were not to be overlooked. Tres leches cakes, cupcakes, parfaits, chocolate-dipped strawberries, cookies, pound cakes, and more are there to enjoy. Custom-cake options for those looking for something for your next event are also available.
We can honestly say that when you visit Super Antojo Bakery, you will not be disappointed. Delicious treats, friendly staff, and a wonderful ambiance make this a unique place to visit and try. Make sure to stop by and visit from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
