From free parking spots to family friendly events, we’ve got everything you need to know about Lamar Homecoming and the big game!
2015 Homecoming week is November 2-7th, with the theme “Cardinals Strong: Past, Present, Future.”
1. Lamar University Gear
You’ve got to show your LU pride! Places where you can buy gear: Ella + Scott, Gaudie & Co, Excel Screenprinting, Academy, HEB, and Target. On campus you can grab gear at the Setzer Center Bookstore and Kampus Korner Bookstore.
On game day, Cotton Cargo will have a booth set up to sell Lamar University gear. You can also order online at www.cardinalslockerroom.com or www.lamar.bncollege.com. Show your pride by placing a 2015 Homecoming Yard sign at your home or business. Signs are available for free (while they last) at area Rao’s locations as well as the Beaumont Munro’s Dry Cleaners locations.
2. Weekday Homecoming Events
A lot of the events on campus the week of homecoming are geared toward students, but there are a few things going on that anyone can attend. Highlights include:
Monday, November 2: “Are you Smarter than a Professor” Game Show
(Students take on the teachers in a battle for pop culture trivia domination.)

Tuesday, November 3: Greeks VS Faculty Basketball Game

Thursday, November 5: Zorb 360: Bubble Soccer, Bongoball Mania and Human Hamster Ball Races
(This is for students, but would be seriously fun to watch if you want to stop by!)

3. GAME DAY: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7th!
11am, Lucas Gusher Re-enactment
Spindletop/Gladys City Boomtown Museum
5550 Jimmy Simmons Blvd (Formerly University Drive)
Relive the early days of Beaumont's rich oil history at the Spindletop/Gladys City Boomtown Museum. Don't miss the Lucas Gusher re-enactment at 11am! The museum will be open 10am - 1pm with free admission.
1pm - 2pm, Homecoming Parade
East Lavaca Street and Southbound MLK Parkway
The Lamar Homecoming Parade features area high school bands, LU Band and spirit groups, floats by student organizations, alumni and community groups! Alumni can gather to view the parade (but not park) in lot E-1. Don't forget your lawn chairs!
2pm - 4:30pm, Fan Fest
Wimberly Parking Lot E-2
Following the parade, there will be Cardinal Fan Fest with activities for students and families all over the campus. Included in Fan Fest: Pint Jockeys Craft Beer tasting on the lawn by the Wimberly Building, an Alumni Spirit Station near the Plummer Building, Kids Zone, food trucks, tail gating and more. Stop by the Alumni Spirit station where they will be giving away free fan gear such as foam fingers, pompoms, etc!
3:30pm, Walk of Champions
Setzer Student Center to Dauphin Athletic Complex
Show your support for the team! It is a tradition for the football and spirit teams to walk across campus to the stadium. This year, The Patriot Guard Riders will escort the team.
4pm - 5:30pm, Alumni Tailgate Party
Montagne Center Porch
Parking Lot A-5, near Montagne Center
Lamar University Alumni is invited to enjoy gumbo, frito pie, hotdogs, giveaways, games and a photo booth. Live music from the Bryce Shaver Band! Advance registration and payment is required. ($7 per person, 3 & under free).
6pm, Game time! Lamar University VS Nicholls State
Provost Umphrey Stadium
4400 MLK Parkway
Get your game face on and prepare to cheer on the Lamar Cardinals! Arrive early to receive a special BASF giveaway (while they last). This year, Lamar Homecoming half-time show will feature multiple bands including local high school bands and the LU Marching Band.
4. Game Tickets
Alumni can purchase tickets in advance for $5 by calling the ticket office at 409-880-1715 or online at www.lamarcardinals.com. Use the code: lualumni15.
5. Parking
Has it been a while since you have been on campus? View the parking map online here. If you don’t already have a paid parking pass, you can buy one for $10 to get into the Montagne Center Parking Lot. Free Parking includes: the LIT Parking Lot (C3) or the Setzer Center Parking lots (C1 & C2).
