The Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau is celebrating another packed weekend in 2018. Lamar University Homecoming and reunions, the United States Tennis Association tournament and Stars Over Texas tournament are the events contributing to an estimated 90 percent of hotel occupancy for the weekend. Hotel room availability in Beaumont will be very limited.
The Beaumont CVB sales team works with sports event planners from the start to ensure a solid plan is executed for events both big and small. The Beaumont CVB servicing department provides personalized support and quality services with the goal that events will continue to re-book Beaumont. With accessibility and affordability, Beaumont offers an ideal place to book sports tournaments.
“We are delighted to have an outstanding turnout this weekend in Beaumont,” said Freddie Willard, Director of Sales. “With the events taking place in Beaumont and tournament directors choosing us for their sporting events, it is great to see another busy weekend in our city.”
The Beaumont CVB sales team booked the following group business:
- The United States Tennis Association’s Adult 55 and Over Tournament – Estimated Economic Impact (EEI): $39,000*
- Stars Over Texas War Between the States – EEI: $241,800*
- Kappa Alpha Psi Reunion/Homecoming – EEI: $9,000*
- Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Reunion/Homecoming – EEI: $30,000*
- Lamar University Homecoming – EEI: $30,000*
Meetings and events are wins for the local economy and continue to make large impacts on our local industry partners. The Courtyard by Marriott, Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Beaumont Plaza, MCM Elegante Hotel and Conference Center and the Residence Inn by Marriott are each host hotels for the respective groups this weekend. These visitors also impact restaurants and attractions in the area.
“It is great that Lamar University Homecoming gives those who cherished their years during school a reason to come back to share their experiences with their family,” said servicing coordinator, Susan Jackson. “These groups take pride in the local community and are always a pleasure to work with.”
The Beaumont CVB continues to bring business to Beaumont and work with both local and national meeting planners to impact Beaumont’s economy.
