The Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to announce its winnings in the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (TACVB) Idea Fair at the organization’s annual conference in The Woodlands last week.

“I am so thrilled that our Clue-themed holiday event which the Beaumont CVB produced in December 2014 was so well received by our peers,” stated Rebecca Woodland, Convention Sales Manager. “I am honored to be recognized for the creativity and execution of this project. It took our entire Beaumont CVB team to achieve such a successful party and this recognition is an acknowledgment of our bureau’s staff talents.”

This year, the Beaumont CVB took top honors in the “Local Awareness” category within their CVB budget grouping, winning first place in both the People’s Choice award and the judges’ selections. The “Get a CLUE® about the Beaumont CVB” theme was incorporated into the Beaumont CVB’s biennial Christmas holiday event which has as one of its purposes to increase local awareness as to what the Beaumont CVB does. Rebecca Woodland, Convention Sales Manager, is responsible for coming up with a theme and focus each time and to make it different from previously held Christmas holiday functions.

The TACVB Idea Fair is held each year in conjunction with the group’s annual conference to allow convention and visitors bureaus throughout the state of Texas to bring their best ideas, campaigns, projects and products and share them with others. These ideas are entered into one of nine different categories ranging from convention sales promotions to cooperative marketing initiatives and websites. The 250-plus convention delegates vote for their favorite ideas; then a team of judges cast their votes to determine the winning ideas. Ideas are judged for originality, cost-saving strategies, visual appeal and methods of implementation within three overall budget groupings/categories.

Beaumont will host the TACVB Mid-Winter Education Conference January 19-21, 2016 which is expected to bring nearly $90,000 into the city. Beaumont was chosen from numerous other cities throughout Texas as host city for the 2016 conference due to the city’s offerings, available meeting space and previous experiences with the organization. Beaumont hosted the TACVB Annual Conference in 2008, which brought $149,620 into the city’s economy.
