NATURE QUEST: Nature-Based Summer Sessions
WHAT: 2024 Nature-Based Summer Science Sessions
WHERE: Tyrrell Park Nature Center
For the selected Tuesday mornings this summer, the Tyrrell Park Nature Center, in collaboration with the Sabine-Neches Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist is offering five “Nature-Based Summer Science Sessions.” Each Tuesday Summer Session will be on a different topic and have nature-based science explorations, arts& crafts, plus other interactive activities related to that session’s theme; guided by the Texas Master Naturalist volunteers.
TIME: 9:30AM – 11:30AM

1) Tuesday, JULY 2- Aquatic Life Investigate the difference between marsh and beach, discover which organisms live at the bottom of the water environments plus learn about paddling & water safety tips.
2)Tuesday, JULY 9- Birds: Cheep, Chirp, Tweet! Learn about Birds, focusing on Beak Adaptations, how they migrate, craft your own bird’s nest plus more

3) Tuesday, JULY 16- Trees, Please! Discover why trees are necessary for the environment, create crafts related to trees in various seasons.
4) Tuesday, JULY 23- Pollinators and Host Plants - Find out all about pollinators, migration habits and the plants they need. Do crafts about bees and butterflies, and then plant host plants to support pollinators.

5) Tuesday JULY 30- Let’s Rock Explore rocks, soil, and fossils. Discover how erosion is part of a healthy eco-system and investigate who lives in the soil.

WHO: Children, Ages 6-11 Child must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

The Nature Center is located in the middle of Tyrrell Park, in the historic white-brick building, just past the golf course as the road splits into the one-way loop. TPNC will be to your left in the center section of the park.

COST: FREE, but Advance Reservations required.
Register your child for one, some, or all sessions. Child must be accompanied by an adult.
