We just can’t wait for Sweet Soiree, so Port Arthur is gathering for the first-ever Mid-Way to Mardi Gras party, 6 p.m. Sept. 12, at the Carl A. Parker Multipurpose Center.
Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas and the Krewe of Krewes will host B-List, the band. BYOE, as in Bring Your Own Everything (snacks, food, drinks, ice, etc.).
Visitors, if you packed for fishing Sabine Lake and Sea Rim State Park and don’t have your green, gold and purple features with you, it’s okay. Dress casually for letting the good times roll and you’ll still catch some beads.
Tickets are $20 and a sell-out is expected, so call the Mardi Gras store at 409-721-8717 for tickets or get them from a proud krewe member. Visit mardigras.portarthur.com for krewe listings.
What are we so excited about? Sweet Soiree is the 2016 Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas theme for a carnival weekend of lighted parades, concerts and good eating in downtown Port Arthur, set for February 4-7. Look for ladies in sparkling confections of satin and lace and tuxedo-clad gentlemen with vests and bows in every color of the Skittles rainbow.
Call the Mardi Gras office for more information. Organizers are calling it a “super party.”
