If you were to ask a person native to Beaumont, "What is there to do in Beaumont?" you would get one of two reactions. 1) The glazed look in the eyes, thinking really hard as if taking an algebra test...Gator Country? 2) The instant knee jerk reaction "Nothing!" (Which is then followed by a 10 minute rant about how boring Beaumont is and how it should be renamed, Boremont.)

Both of these reactions are the worst nightmares for a CVB. It's even worse when the person who answers in that manner is in direct contact with visitors to this area, such as hotel and restaurant staff. Luckily, the Beaumont CVB has created a training program to combat these two negative reactions.

What is Beaumont Destination Training?

Beaumont Destination Training (BDT) is a free interactive educational program that takes people, especially hospitality employees, and teaches them all about the rich culture Beaumont has to offer. (And before you click out of this blog and say, "Yuck I do not want to sit through another boring work related training program!" STOP! This is no ordinary training program.)

Instead of sitting in a dull classroom looking at pictures of Beaumont, you will board a bus and go EXPERIENCE what Beaumont has to offer. Destinations range from The Art Museum of Southeast Texas to Gator Country Adventure Park to St. Anthony's Cathedral Basilica (and many more). Plus, a tasty lunch is included. The tour is designed to give you a little taste of Beaumont and it will leave you hungry for more.

Why Should You Attend BDT?

  1. You will be able to help promote Beaumont to out of town visitors.
  2. You will be able to educate people who get glazed eyes when asked a question about Beaumont. (And maybe inspire them to learn more.)
