Fun Book of Savings

Fun Book of SavingsThe 2009 Beaumont Fun Book is packed with more than $1,000 in savings and is perfect for all of us who are budget conscious and looking to have a wonderful time!

The Beaumont Fun Book contains special hotel discounts and savings at area attractions and restaurants. Family-friendly activities include museums in Beaumont's Historic Downtown Museum District like the Texas Energy Museum where interactive exhibits tell the history of oil, from the time in 1901 when the Lucas Gusher blew, to the present day petroleum industry and how it all works. Be sure and plan to visit the Spindletop/Gladys City Boomtown Museum where you can see the world's only working replica gusher blow water hundreds of feet into Beaumont's blue sky! (Be sure and check the calendar of events for details!)

Woman KayakingReconnect with nature as you slice through the waters of the Big Thicket in a canoe. Feeling as if you're miles from civilization, you'll experience the diversity of life found in this 100,000 acre pristine preserve as you float under a canopy of willow, bald cypress and tupelo. Embark on a Neches River adventure aboard The Cardinal River Boat. This 37-passanger slow-moving boat is perfect for anyone looking to relax and soak in the beauty of the Big Thicket in comfort.

Rekindle your sense of wonder at Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nesting BirdsNature Center, a 200-plus acre "green" retreat. Observe nesting birds in Shangri La's Ruby Lake through a state-of-the-art bird blind. Pause to reflect in one of the nine garden rooms or four sculpture rooms that depend heavily on concepts familiar to every artist including line, shape, texture and color. The Pond of the Blue Moon features 41 varieties of azaleas and during your visit, you will explore more than 300 species of plants in one of the most Earth-friendly projects in the world.

Ever dine with a gator? You can at Gator Country--Texas' only alligator theme park! Feast on Cajun cuisine while relaxing on their spacious decks that overlook dozens of gators. Have a hands-on experience by helping feed LIVE gators and take home a picture to prove it! View educational demonstrations and see the jaw dropping ½ ton alligator, lovingly named ‘Big Al'.

St. Anthony's Cathedral BasilicaBe inspired at St. Anthony's Cathedral Basilica, one of Beaumont's many unique and historic places of worship on the Beaumont Faith Trail. Modeled after the 12th Century Basilica di San Clemente in Rome, St. Anthony's was granted Minor Basilica status by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006. Gaze at the beauty and wonder of its many treasures including the soaring dome that depicts the glory of heaven.
