The McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge, located on the upper Texas Coast, supply important feeding and resting habitat for migrating populations of waterfowl. The 55,000 acre McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge consists of the largest remaining freshwater marsh on the Texas Coast and thousands of acres of intermediate to brackish marsh. Enjoy wildlife-related recreation, including fishing, crabbing, wildlife watching, wildlife photography, and waterfowl hunting.
The entrance gate is timed to open at sunrise and close at sunset. Restroom facilities are available near the main entrance kiosks.
The public can get information and learn about the Texas Point, Anahuac and McFaddin National Wildlife Refuges at the Texas Chenier Plain Refuge’s visitor center located in Anahuac, Texas. Here, refuge staff and volunteers are available to provide maps and other information on all three refuges. The visitor center is approximately 50 miles west of Sabine Pass, between Baytown and Winnie, and is about two miles south of I-10 on FM 563.
