From the eighth floor of the Mary and John Gray Library, the University Reception Center overlooks Lamar University and the city of Beaumont. This 10,000 square foot facility is an ideal setting for campus and community events, the Reception Center is a great place for meetings, receptions, dinners and seminars. The facility consists of three rooms, providing a wide array of possible arrangements. The special events staff serves the university by organizing successful events and programs that seek to educate, foster a sense of community, and build relationships. We strive to provide a fitting venue for every event by offering sound advice and counsel on room layouts, menu planning and audio visual needs. Our office is committed to providing a beautiful and functional atmosphere for your event. Meeting Facilities
  • Descriptionhe Lamar University Reception Center consists of three rooms on the eighth floor of the Mary and John Gray Library. The entire floor has ceiling to floor walls of glass which overlook the campus and the city of Beaumont. The large center room, the Julia Plummer Room, accommodates 300 guests seated at tables. The Patillo Higgins Spindletop Room accommodates 100 seated at tables or 180 seated assembly style. The Mirabeau B. Lamar Room seats a maximum of 50 guests. The Director of the Reception Center will meet with the client to discuss the event and make recommendations regarding the set-up. The floor can usually be set up to suit any needs; however, large pieces of furniture, pictures of donors, wall hangings and display cases cannot be moved.
