The 1845 French family home will be decorated inside and out with fresh greenery as they would have done so many years ago. Visitors will hear about Christmas traditions from the 1800’s from costumed docents stationed inside the historic home.
The Southeast Texas Dulcimer Friends will play seasonal favorites beginning at 5:30pm, and there will be Christmas crafts for children, like those the French family might have made. A period appropriate Santa Clause will be on the grounds for visits with little ones.
At the conclusion of the event, we will read “A Visit From St. Nicholas (Twas the Night Before Christmas) and end with “Silent Night” sung on the front porch. Light refreshments will be provided. This family-friendly event promises to return guests to a simpler time when this historic home sat on the Texas frontier!
