The newest exhibit at Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum is Lamb's Printing Shop, which will be dedicated Saturday, 10/27 at 10:00 a.m. The first new exhibit building since the museum opened in 1976, the Lamb Printing Shop tells the early story of printing, and includes old printers, photo engravings and drawers full of different sized lead type.

The pieces were donated by Tom Lamb, whose family started Lamb's Printing Company in the late 1800s. Lamb said his family got out of the printing business in the '70s, but they kept the equipment. Most of it has been in storage since 1996, and Lamb said four years ago his family started looking for a place to display the heavy machinery. They received support from the Lamar University Foundation, and started a fund-raising drive to build a place to house the equipment at the Gladys City Boomtown Museum.

The Gladys City Boomtown Museum is operated by Lamar University, celebrates oil discoveries of the early 20th century.
