February 8: Family Arts Day at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas
10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Free

A staple here in Beaumont, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas will once again host their quarterly Free Family Arts Day. This month's "Who's That in the Mirror" Family Arts Day encourages kids to create silhouette drawings, aging portraits, full body portraits and collage portraits after viewing the dynamic works of self-portraiture by Texas artists and the artwork from AMSET's permanent collection. In addition, the event will feature a celebration of Valentine's Day, President's Day and Mardi Gras. Festive activities will include decorating Valentine's Day cookies and making Lincoln beards, Freedom hats and Mardi Gras masks. As an added bonus, children are invited to smile, and say cheese as they visit the photo booth!

February 8: Family Fun Day at the Museum of the Gulf Coast
10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Free

Brought to you by the Museum of the Gulf Coast, Free Family Fun Day features kid-friendly activities. The event complements the museum's current exhibition, Step Right Up! Behind the Scenes of the Circus Big Top, 1890-1965. In collaboration with the Tegge Circus Archives, Step Right Up! takes viewers behind the scenes of the circus, exploring the dramatic pageantry, colorful past, and living presence of this grand American theatrical tradition. Approximately 60 pieces of circus history are featured in the exhibit, which is on view until March 16.
