The Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomes the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) Lone Star Region 64th Annual Convention to the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Beaumont Plaza Wednesday, July 22 – Sunday, July 26, 2015.

“Model Railroading is fun! Whether you are young or old, trains have always had a great rapport with people,” says George Bohn, Convention Chairman for the 2015 National Model Railroad Association Annual Convention. “The Lone Star Region is excited to be in Beaumont for the first time. The City is a major hub in the United States rail system with trains from all major rail companies going through Beaumont each day,” Bohn continues.

The National Model Railroad Association Lone Star Region is comprised of Texas and Louisiana. Now in its 64th year, this is the first time the convention will be held in Beaumont and it is expected to bring nearly 180 people into town. Giving the city an estimated economic impact of $107,726 and occupying 210 Beaumont hotel rooms, the event takes place at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Beaumont Plaza located at 3950 I-10 South & Walden Road (77705). For the first time ever, the Annual Convention will feature “Klinics for Kids,” Model Railroading clinics presented by youth specifically aimed at youth modelers. These will take place Saturday, July 25 at 9:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. While the convention is open to NMRA members only, media representatives are permitted for interviews and photo opportunities.
