9/11 Remembered in Beaumont

Where were you on September 11, 2001? I was in my car on my way to get my hair cut. I was listening to the radio and as I was just about to change the station, I heard the DJ announce, "A plane has just hit the World Trade Center." I remember listening in shock as they began to unfold the happenings of that dreadful morning. We all have a story and none of us could have been left unaffected by the events of that day. In remembrance, here are events you'll find in Beaumont this weekend.

  • September 11, 4-6 p.m. - 10th Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony - The City of Beaumont and the Beaumont Council of Garden Clubs invite you to the 10th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony of September 11 at Tyrrell Park. Bring your families to remember that tragic day in America's history and to honor our First Responders and the Military. A wreath will be placed at the memorial site at the end of the program, followed by Amazing Grace and ending with the playing of the Taps.
  • September 11, 5-6 p.m. - Vesper Memorial Service for 9/11 - This memorial service is offered to the community as a way to remember and heal from the tragedy that befell our country. Prayers and uplifting music will start at 5pm. The Chancel Choir will be singing several inspirational and moving anthems, such as "Song of Peace," "Pie Jesu," "Kyrie from Memorial," and "Standford's Nunc Diminitis." All are welcome to come and share in this special vesper service.
