Nearly 450 cyclists will converge at Beaumont's Crockett Street Entertainment District to take part in the bicycle ride, a fundraiser benefiting the Jefferson County Bar Association Pro Bono Office, local businesses, and the community at large. Spindletop Spin is a sixteen (16), thirty (30), fifty-two (52) and one-hundred (100) mile bicycle ride that was established in honor of former family court judge Tom Mulvaney.
Cyclists will travel from all parts of Texas and Louisiana to participate with routes taking them through numerous Southeast Texas scenic byways throughout Jefferson County. The route's rest stop locations were strategically picked to highlight the area's unique and historic attractions. Stops include the Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum and Crockett Street Entertainment District.
During the ride, families that attend will enjoy all-day festivities at the Spin's starting point on Crockett Street. Children can enjoy ice cream and snow cones as well as a host of other festivities including music by Party Train DJ Services. Food will be served from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
