Beaumont Weather
Lounging near the Gulf of Mexico, Beaumont boasts some of the biggest weather in Texas. The city is located in the Piney Woods region, which receives more rainfall than any other region in the Lone Star State. Thanks to warm gulf waters carrying humid air to the Beaumont area, we'll typically see more than 48 inches of rain in our area each year.
During the winter, warm currents from the Gulf of Mexico keep Beaumont's weather pleasant. Snow is rare, but we sometimes do see a light dusting in December. In fact, on December 11, 2008, the city was covered in a light snow, with up to three inches in the west end. It was the first major snow in Beaumont since December 24, 2004.
Beaumont also sees its fair share of hurricanes. Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Ike are the largest hurricanes to hit Beaumont to date. During hurricane season, safety officials will sometimes recommend evacuations of the Beaumont area.
