C-SPAN is visiting Beaumont, TX, for a week starting Monday, January 9, 2012, as it prepares to feature Beaumont's history and literary life on the cable network’s non-fiction book channel BookTV (on C-SPAN2) and history channel American History TV (on C-SPAN3). During the week, C-SPAN producers will visit various literary and historic sites, interviewing local historians, authors and civic leaders. C-SPAN is partnering with Time Warner Cable, the network’s local affiliate, which is helping to organize the week’s many logistics.

The highly-anticipated 7th annual Official Visitors Guide for Beaumont and Jefferson County is hot off the press and is bursting with intriguing articles and visitor information that promote tourism in the cities of Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nederland, Port Neches and Groves. The Southeast Texas Regional Visitors Guide is a collaborative project between the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the Port Arthur CVB and the cities of Nederland, Port Neches and Groves that promotes tourism in Jefferson County.

Did you know Beaumont's been dubbed the Museum Capital of Texas? And for good reason! We have an eclectic mix of 19 museums that specialize in everything from art to energy.

Follow the history of the "Cradle of the Petroleum Age" through a few of Beaumont's key museums that tell the story of Spindletop and the bounty it created for those involved.

In 1901, Beaumont changed the course of history for the entire United States and with a single event spurred the Industrial Revolution. Visit the Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum and relive the past as you stroll through the reconstructed boomtown complete with artifacts, oil derricks, shops and even a replica gusher.
